PTFA
We are fortunate at school to have a PTFA that is an integral part of the school community and has in its time raised thousands of pounds. This has been spent on equipment and resources to enhance the children’s educational experiences and the school’s facilities.
Our PTFA is about much more than simply fundraising. The PTFA exists to provide closer links between home and school and is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together in support of the school. All parents and members of the school community are welcome. We encourage all to get involved, even if they only have a small amount of time available.
The PTFA is extremely conscious of the diversity of our school and we try when organising and planning events to respect this. Not all our events are run as fundraisers. Our children’s discos and leavers BBQ are run with the aim of giving the children a fun time and as a way of thanking the families for their continued support.

We will be adopting a new constitution. All parents/carers are welcome to attend. If anyone would like to view the proposed constitution, please email ptfa@asterdale.odysseyct.org.uk.

The Committee
Our PTFA officers currently consists of a Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. The Committee meets on a regular basis, usually once a term, with smaller working groups, meeting as necessary for different projects and events. An Annual General Meeting is held at the beginning of each academic year.

How We Spend The Money We Raise
It is at our meetings, that the decisions on how to spend the money are agreed. A ‘wish list’ of items that the school would like the PTFA to consider funding is presented at these meetings.
Sometimes this will be as a result of the School Council asking for items on behalf of the children, a staff request or parent's ideas. At other times it will be for resources to support a particular area of the curriculum such as
science week. The PTFA funds are spent on the ‘extras’ that all go towards making the children’s learning experiences so much more fulfilling and exciting.
How You Can Get Involved
There are lots of ways you can help and support your child through the PTFA.
Offering to help leading up to any event is so valuable. It doesn’t matter if you are unable to help on a regular basis, or even if you cannot come into school. There are often jobs that can be done from home, even if you have very little time eg wrapping gifts, preparing raffle tickets etc.
Help is always gratefully received at PTFA events. It may be that you can run a stall at the Christmas or Summer Fair, help at discos or events.
